Texas Cultural Trust


			In 1993, the Texas Legislature created the Texas Cultural Endowment to provide a permanent funding source for the cultural arts in Texas. The Texas Cultural Trust, a 501(c) 3 organization, was created to raise private dollars for the Texas Cultural Endowment and more recently, direct dollars for programs of the Texas Commission on the Arts(TCA). The TCA has a formal grant process for administering the interest from the Trust and the dollars raised for programs. This is a unique Public/Private partnership. The Cultural Trust works with the TCA and other arts organizations to create awareness and funding for the arts throughout Texas. The Texas Medal of Arts Awards, co-hosted by the Governor, Lt. Governor and the Speaker, and the related statewide community receptions give communities and their leaders a chance to interact, educate, discuss and celebrate the arts in a way that is both positive and inspiring.
