Conspirare

Conspirare is an acclaimed professional choral ensemble based in Austin, Texas. Under the leadership of Founder and Artistic Director Craig Hella Johnson, Conspirare combines outstanding vocal artistry with innovative programming, creating uniquely dynamic choral art.

Conspirare’s reputation continues to grow in Texas and on the national stage and is the first Texas ensemble to receive the Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence, presented by Chorus America in 2005.  Additionally, the organization has been the recipient of two recent National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) grants, was selected to perform at the National American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Convention in New York, was invited to perform at the White House, was the Choir-In-Residence at the North Central ACDA convention in Omaha, and has consistently received high marks by arts critics and funding institutions.

Conspirare presents an annual concert series in Austin and around Texas and tours nationally.  The group strives to bring audiences innovative and stellar performances, recordings of great works, educational events and meaningful outreach collaborations, recognizing that music has the power to transform lives emotionally, intellectually and spiritually.

In 2004, Conspirare produced its first commercial studio release, through the green fuse, recorded at Skywalker Ranch and distributed under the Clarion Records label. Conspirare released its second studio CD, Requiem, in early 2006. Recorded at Troy Music Hall in Troy, New York, the CD has elicited enthusiastic praise.
