Austin Museum of Digital Art
Founded in 1997, the Austin Museum of Digital Art (AMODA) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the acceptance, appreciation, and creation of digital art within Austin and Central Texas as a cornerstone of the digital art community.
Since AMODA’s program activities began in 2000, the organization has presented the work of over 400 visual and performance artists. Many Texas artists and performers have shared the stage with renowned artists from across North America and around the globe, including England, Germany, Iceland and Japan.
Critics in local and national publications have acclaimed AMODA’s curatorial focus. Ryan Goldman of Pitchfork Media called AMODA "one of the world's foremost promoters of digital art in all forms." Jodie Keeling of Downtown Arts Magazine called our work a "creative renaissance." The Austin Chronicle has published numerous articles and reviews of AMODA artists, programs, and staff, and awarded AMODA with a Best of Austin Award in 2001, declaring AMODA "a force to be reckoned with in Austin's rapidly growing digital art community."
AMODA’s events draw more than 1,000 people of varying ages and backgrounds from within Austin, around Texas, and beyond each year. AMODA has four programs for presenting digital art: the Exhibition Series, the Performance Series, the Digital Showcase, and the Education Program. Each program focuses on a different format and presentation style, effectively allowing AMODA to appeal to a broader audience. With a large portion of event attendees being under the age of 30, AMODA is introducing many of these people not only to digital art, but also to the broader world of art in general.
