All Americans: Images of Heritage and Citizenship is an exhibition of student artwork from Texans in first through twelfth grade that expresses through visual interpretation the pride and promise of our great nation. This exhibition was developed by the Texas Commission on the Arts (TCA). It reflects the breadth and diversity of our state and country. This reproduction series includes 23 works designed to advance the ideals of civic participation, shared culture, the democratic process, and the responsibility to renew our potential as a country at the community level. The works were chosen from the Texas PTA National Reflections Program and the 50 Gold Seal Awards of the 2002 Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) conducted by the Texas Arts Education Association (TAEA).

In the fall of 2005, The Texas Commission on the Arts, in partnership with the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. Department of State, will announce the reproduction and distribution of the exhibit, All Americans: Images of Heritage and Citizenship, to 140 U.S. Embassies and Consulates around the world for presentation to local audiences. An announcement reception will be planned at the State Department in Washington. Each student and teacher that was chosen to participate in this exhibition will be invited and provided accommodations to attend this ceremony. In addition, a residency program abroad for the teachers involved in this project will be part of the State Department’s Culture Connect Envoys program. Teachers will be given the opportunity to spend two weeks abroad conducting workshops for young people in partnership with local teachers of art. The experiences gained by these teachers will enhance their own classroom teaching, at the same time that they share their skills and knowledge with their counterparts around the world.
